Beware of the little security alarm company that send a sales representative to your door. Beware of the alarm company that has prices that are too good to be true. These area few mistakes that many consumers have  made and in the end it has turned out to be a more costly experience than intended.

That is not to say that all small security alarm companies are no good, but  you must make sure to do some proper research before signing on the dotted line.

Other will will try to get customers to sign questionable monitoring contracts locking them in for extremely long periods of time, leaving customers trapped with overinflated rates in which they cannot break out of.  Other companies will claim free installation, only to have an unqualified person do a shoddy and unsatisfactory job resulting in a dysfunctional alarm system.

Some way in which you may do some research is by consulting with your neighbors to see what experiences they may have had with their alarm system. You could also talk with your insurance agent on what may be a good security alarm company. You could also talk to your local police center to find out what they have to say.

Make sure that your monitored alarm company is UL listed : (Underwriter’s Laboratory) set extremely high standards of service requirements for products on the market.

See if the product is FM approved. there will be an FM approval mark which is backed by scientific research and testing, tells customers your product conforms to the highest standards.

See if the security alarm company is locally owned and operated. Most local

business will have a desire to do an excellent job, as their reputation depends on it in the community where they live.

Before you decide on what company to choose, make sure you have quotes from at least 3 different companies.
